Work

I wake each day and go to work,
What is it all about?
To give of myself throughout each day,
No thanks within or out.

But I must be responsible,
I know you will agree,
But how I wish that I could feel,
Some time could be for me.

To sit around and read a book,
Or maybe take a hike,
And do the things I really want,
The things I really like.

But time will pass, the day will come,
My work will all be done,
Then looking back, at last I'll know,
Each day was worth the run.

I hope I've made a difference, in
The lives put in my care,
Each day I worked and struggled, was
Because I really cared.

So now I pass the torch to those,
Who follow in my path,
To let them know that in this life,
They need to do their task.

And nurture those who trust in them,
To care for all their needs.
And know that God will look at them,
And in His heart be pleased.
