You'll seldom know what Up looks like by being at the
top,
A flat plateau is all that you will see,
But round about are crevasses where many others dwell,
Such valleys are the places you will flee.
You'll seldom
see a better day if that is where you live,
To others it is just a distant dream,
And while they struggle, persevere to make it to the top,
You barely have to wake to work up steam.
You'll seldom
feel a broken heart by keeping love at bay,
And never letting anyone get near,
By thinking you are happier just being by yourself,
Is simply just another word for Fear.
You'll seldom
see the bottom when you're sitting on the floor,
But that is where you are when you're alone,
You thought that you were at the top, but Up is far above,
But getting there is something you postpone.
You'll seldom
feel rejection if you give your love away,
Expecting nothing ever in return,
For suddenly you're at the top and Down is far below,
With loneliness no longer a concern.
You'll seldom
know the Ups or Downs by making straight your path,
But that can also be a lonely place,
For Ups and Downs build character and strength and fortitude,
Adversity is something to embrace.
You'll seldom
see the bottom when you're sitting on the floor,
You'll seldom see the top when you are there,
So look around at others who are Up or maybe Down,
And walk with them together if you dare.
