The Need To Worship

What's this need we seem to have,
To worship and adore,
To build a temple, mosque or church,
And to our God implore?

Some say it's just religion, and
In some ways they are right,
But when did feelings first arrive,
To make us seek the Light?

Some say that they are Atheists,
And God does not exist,
But this is learned experience,
Yet in it they persist.

This need to trust comes naturally,
Was with us from the start,
In every culture 'round the world,
Embedded in our hearts.

I'd say there is a God above,
For this is how I feel,
This feeling comes quite naturally,
And that's the big appeal.

I didn't have to make it up,
Was there from the beginning,
This trust in God empowers me,
And keeps my soul from sinning.
