The Entity

Shadows in the hallway,
And noises in the night,
There's something living in this house,
That gives me such a fright.

It's there when I am dreaming,
It's there when I'm awake,
It's ever present by my side,
And causes me to shake.

At times it looks familiar,
At times it looks so strange,
For most times it is normal,
But sometimes quite deranged.

I finally understand it,
The thing I see is me,
That lurks in shadows in my mind,
Not letting me get free.

I battle with this entity,
Of good and bad illusions,
And pray that I won't lose my mind,
A mind of such confusion.
