Sinking Low

I'm sinking low and falling fast,
What's gone today is in the past,
What's up ahead is where I'm bound,
I'm sinking low, if truth be found.

I'm sinking low for what I've done,
I live in shadows, not the sun,
I'll pay the price and nothing more,
I'm sinking low for what's in store.

I'm sinking low, not climbing up,
The wrath of God is in my cup,
Eternal pain reserved for me,
I'm sinking low; that's where I'll be.

I'm sinking low; please stay away,
To be with me will make you stray,
To be alone is who I am,
I'm sinking low; don't give a damn.

I'm sinking low; please pray for me,
I guess I care to some degree,
I need to find a better way,
I'm sinking low, to my dismay.

I'm sinking low, but reaching up,
On bitter herbs is what I sup,
For bread and wine is what I strive,
I'm climbing up so I survive.

I'm climbing up to higher ground,
A place where peace and love are found,
I'm climbing up, no longer down,
I'm climbing up so I won't drown.
