She's My Best Friend

"I have to tell you how it was,
The first day that I fell in love,
I saw her from across the room,
My little heart went pitter - boom."

Now, that is how the stories start,
But from that style I will depart,
For when at first I met my wife,
I never thought we'd wed for life.

I never even wanted her,
I didn't like her, that's for sure,
I thought she was a little brat,
She thought I was a little rat.

And we could never be real friends,
But that's not where the story ends,
For soon I really noticed her,
And then I fell in love for sure.

For when she took my breath away,
I knew that I would always stay,
And then I asked her for a date,
She said "Okay, but don't be late".

And soon we made ourselves a home,
And from that time our love has grown,
Now we're together 'till the end,
I love that girl, she's my best friend.
