Shadows

I live in a world of shadow,
Behind these bars in my mind,
I long to walk in the sunlight,
But shadows just follow behind.

I live in a world of sorrow,
Behind these lines on my face,
I long to witness some gladness,
But sadness is left in its place.

I live in a world of heartache,
For someone who left me behind,
I long to feel her comfort,
But "lonely" is all I can find.

Sunlight and Gladness and Comfort,
Three 'sisters' I'm longing to see,
If they would just come here to visit,
I know I could really be free.
