Sayings Cannot Mend

Okay, okay, I get it now,
But tell me something new,
Don't tell me of the things I know,
When I am feeling blue.

I've heard the line,"Stiff Upper Lip",
I've heard, "Just Get A Life",
But none of these are helpful, when
I'm feeling pain and strife.

I know that "Time Will Heal All Wounds",
I know that "It Will Pass",
I know that "Life Will Carry On",
But I am out of gas.

I have no strength to "Carry On,
I have too many "Wounds",
And you can't call what I have "Life",
I feel like I am doomed.

I'll never have "Stiff Upper Lip",
It trembles far too much,
And while I wait for "It To Pass",
Despair is what I clutch.

I have a hurt and broken heart
That 'sayings' cannot mend,
I'm not content and not at peace,
And I will not pretend.
