Retirement Day

My final day, I'm outta here,
And I am full of happy cheer,
But leaving all my friends behind,
Seems very cruel and so unkind.

Twenty-six years behind this desk,
Was such a chore, but for the best,
I stayed here for my family,
Now I can go, I've been set free.

My first day off, I'm sleeping in,
Then I'll awake with such a grin,
And think of how to spend my time,
I'll play some golf to help unwind.

Then on day two I'll clean my car,
And drive it to the local bar,
Where I will buy myself a beer,
And think about my past career.

I'll wash my mind of all I learned,
And all my notes I think I'll burn,
Then look ahead for what's to come,
And learn to beat a brand-new drum.

But I'll remember all of you,
As on this day I bid adieu,
You've been my friends for many years,
But like I said, "I'M OUTTA HERE !!"
