Plain Speaking

Now, some poets speak what is not understood,
When they write about life; about death,
Of suffering and pain, it all seems the same,
But they talk like it's some kind of test.

They think fancy speech will show true emotion,
Of things that have need to be said,
They write lots of words and hope they have meaning,
Which leaves people scratching their heads.

"What's the meaning of this?", "What's the meaning of that?"
"It made little sense from the start",
Just reach deep inside and say what you mean,
Simple thoughts that come from your heart.

It's not a hard thing, just say what you feel,
And let the chips fall where they may,
Whether fancy or plain, the truth is the same,
If only you mean what you say.
