Our Town Was Once A Peaceful Place

There's rage and violence in the streets of our once quiet town,
And no one seems to know the reason how it all came down,
Our children lived the simple life and knew the right from wrong,
But now they're fighting; killing, and they sing a different song.

Our town was once a peaceful place, with children in the park,
But now a fire is raging and it started from a spark,
When one of them became upset when others called him names,
And ever since that incident, its never been the same.

Revenge is such an evil thing; destroys our very soul,
It beats us down and tears apart, so we cannot be whole,
It blinds our eyes, so we can't see the good in those around,
And tells us lies, and in the end, makes mountains from a mound.

Our town was once a peaceful place; I pray it will again,
Before more children are abused and other ones are slain,
Our town was once a peaceful place; I wish we had it back,
Let's try to find a way to heal before the next attack.
