Opulence To Survive

I saw three limousines today,
It made me wonder why,
The reason we need opulence,
In order to survive.

What really is the reason, that
We need such luxury?
Now, is it to impress ourselves?
To somehow make us free?

But riches do not make us free,
Instead, they tend to bind,
And often all they offer, is
A prison in our minds.

I envy those who get along,
Without the need for things,
For most times they are happier,
Than living like a king.

It's time we took some lessons, from
The ones who have much less,
Because of our extravagance,
This world is in a mess.

So, from now on, let's start anew,
And think before we buy,
Let's shake these bonds that hold us back,
Then we can really fly.
