One Small Universe

They say the universe expands,
So why can't I move on?
Since you moved out and left me here,
I sing the same old song.

I wake each day at half past eight,
In this half-empty bed,
I try to get on with my day,
A day I really dread.

From dawn to dusk I work so hard,
And do the things I must,
To keep my mind from wandering,
But I just can't adjust.

I understand that life goes on,
But it has stopped for me,
For you are ever on my mind,
And I cannot get free.

To say the universe expands,
Is really such a myth,
For when you left, you took the sun,
And left me with a kiss.

A kiss that soured on my cheek,
For all it left was pain,
I tried to get on with my life
But all things stayed the same.

I live in one small universe,
It's smaller every day,
I'm trapped inside this universe,
And this is where I'll stay.
