One Dark, One Blonde

One was dark and one was blonde,
For their attention, I did long,
But they were just a fantasy,
It seems I didn't quite belong.

For they had all their special friends,
And I would often just pretend,
That I was also one of them,
And we could be the best of friends.

But it was never meant to be,
For they were them and I was me,
They chose to hang with cooler guys,
And I was just so much debris.

And now I wonder where they are,
My love for them has left a scar,
And though I was a teenaged kid,
Oh, how I wished upon those stars.
