One Country

Wind sweeps over
the prairies.
The fields sway in time
to the sounds of nature.
All around
the golden sheets
ripple like smooth waves
of silk.

High above the clouds
the mountains stand,
spreading their dark
shadows over the land
below.
Within the rock lies
the pools of crystal
water,
cold and clear and still;
it mirrors the beauty of
its surroundings.

Deep within the city,
no light is seen.
All around the buildings
stand,
appearing cold and dark
and sinister.
Above, blue skys have
turned to grey.
All noises around become
deafening
as people race to unknown
destinations.
