New World Jungle

Under a canopy of green
he confidently strides,
with fears non-existant.

Ruling the land
in which he lives.
The respect and fear of creatures
he deserves.

With dignity he holds
his golden-haloed head.
With pride
he oversees the daily activity
of his jungle.

Peering through the smog and
smoke
in the yellow-grey sky,
he sits,
twenty stories above the heads
of his subjects.

Looking down upon them all,
he laughs.
The respect and fear of
creatures
he craves.

With arrogance he flaunts
his wealth before the eyes
of peasants.

With selfishness he hordes
life
from all those in need.
