Humanitarian Poems

But you're our southern relatives,
And we're your northern friends.

Neighbours And Friends

This was written during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, September, 2005

We often have our differences,
About most everything,
Our customs and our way of life,
The anthems that we sing.

The way we walk, the way we talk,
May not be just like you,
Your pioneers used wagon trains,
And our used large canoes.

Your people speak 'American',
While ours speak also French,
We're proud to be Canadian,
With loyalty intense.

But you're our southern relatives,
And we're your northern friends,
And when you're needing someone's help,
On us you can depend.

We love you as a family,
Of that you can be sure,
We'll do whatever we can do,
To help you to endure.

We feel your pain and agony,
Your sorrow your and strife,
We cry when we see homelessness,
And senseless loss of life.

We're all in this together, and
We will be to the end,
We'll be with you and see it through,
Our friendship we extend.
