My Lady

When I was young I never thought that I would see the day,
When I would meet that special girl, but I would have to say,
That 'oft I prayed that one would come and share my piece of life,
My prayer was heard and answered on the day I met my wife.

When I was young I never thought that life could be so good,
And that I'd meet an angel, who my troubles understood,
For though I loved the ladies who were fun and liked to flirt,
They very soon would tire of me and leave me in the dirt.

When I was young the world was big and I was feeling lost,
My life was moving up and down, with troubles I was tossed,
And then I met a lady, who would of my burdens share,
And ever since that moment, it has been a love affair.

This lady gave me children, first a boy and then a girl,
And though I wasn't worth it, she would treat me like a pearl,
Though many years have vanished, she is ever by my side,
And when I'm with my lady, my whole soul is filled with pride.
