Love Shack

A very simple cottage
Lay behind a picket fence,
And out in front, a lilac bush,
With fragrance so intense.

The rooms all filled with laughter,
For a Mother and a Dad,
With seven children at their feet,
They give all that they have.

A solid wooden table,
Circled 'round with wooden chairs,
Inside a little kitchen,
With its cupboards almost bare.

With patches on their clothing,
And no shoes upon their feet,
They sit around the table,
But there's nothing much to eat.

But what they have is something
That fine riches cannot buy,
A love for one another,
Which they have in large supply.

A lesson to be learned here,
It's not riches that we need,
But love for one another,
With its blessings guaranteed.
