Love Of Hamlet (Act 2, Scene 2)

To be a poet
I'd give most anything,
for only the words of
a poet could capture
your heart
and reveal to you
the purity of my love.

For I alone have
not the skill
to make you understand
the complexity of my
emotions.
They are a turbulent mass
with one unified purpose.

To be a god
I'd give my soul,
for only a god is worthy
of your goodness.
But I as a being
am wretched and cheap
and unworthy of your gaze.

Your taintless beauty,
created from within
illuminates your
entire being.
Therefore I fear to touch you,
for my foulness may
break the spell of your radiance.
