I Dreamed It Was Christmas

I dreamed it was Christmas,
Don’t really know why,
‘Cause it wasn’t December,
‘Twas the fourth of July.

A day when our fathers,
Declared they were done,
Being ruled by another,
Independence was won.

Then I thought of the Saviour,
Who came from above,
He gave us our freedom,
When He gave us His love.

Now we’re no longer captives,
Controlled by our sin,
For God sent His Son,
Independence to win.

Now we live for the Lord,
It’s a free choice we make,
Let us celebrate Christmas,
For our dear Saviour’s sake.
