Holy War

(based on Romans 7:14-25)

Each day we fight a holy war,
It's spirit versus flesh.
Although we try to overcome,
The two don't seem to mesh.

The spirit says "Just let it be",
The flesh, it says "Just do it".
And then before we know what hit,
We realize we just blew it.

There's One who watches from above,
The Spirit in the sky,
He says "You'll do alright, My son,
If you will only try."

"Just stop the struggle, rest in Me,
And I will see you through".
I took the Spirit at His word,
He showed me what to do.

It is no longer I who fights,
For He now fights for me,
This Spirit is the Son of God,
And He has set me free.
