Oh, brother, here I go
again,
I ran ahead but missed the train,
I thought I knew just what to do,
A pretty girl I did pursue.
I showed much charm and
simple grace,
But when my actions I did trace,
I found I acted like a jerk,
When in the bushes I did lurk.
I couldn't get
enough of her,
(And here my mem'ry is a blur),
It seems I stood outside her house,
Not knowing that she had a spouse.
I left a note upon her
door,
And wondered what there was in store,
I told her that I wanted her,
But Hubby's wrath I did incur.
And now I'm
running for my life,
And all because I need a wife,
To comfort and take care of me,
And spend her nights upon my knee.
I'm running
hard, right out of town,
And feeling like a stupid clown,
And Hubby's running after me,
I cannot stay; I'd better flee.
I'm off to find
another gal,
Like maybe Suzy, Jane or Sal,
But I will tell them all "Good-bye",
If married to some other guy.
