I didn't
mean to cause him pain,
For all I did was call him names,
A little fun at his expense,
I didn't mean to cause offence.
Although
quite slim, I called him fat,
And acted like some kind of brat,
But I was just a little kid,
And did things that my Mom forbid.
But then
I entered teen-aged years,
And pressured by my other peers,
I ridiculed and criticized,
A guy who everyone despised.
And
though I didn't know him well,
I made his life a living hell,
And every single night he cried,
And contemplated suicide.
And then
I heard it in the news,
That he had filled himself with booze,
And with his father's loaded gun,
He blew himself to kingdom-come.
And I'm
the one who is to blame,
Although I thought it just a game,
A game where I could pick and choose,
The ones who win, and ones who lose.
Now I'm
tormented every day,
And will be 'till I'm old and gray,
So learn a lesson from this tale,
Or live your life to no avail.
