Both North And The South

It seems so extreme, just a dream, just a dream,
That we love our neighbours; I mean what I mean,
But we are all family, both North and the South,
We both live in freedom, of that there's no doubt.

But we are so different, both you and both me,
We speak the same language yet often don't see,
That we have two cultures, one yours and one mine,
And though we're so different we're from the same vine.

Across the 'Big Water' we both had to flee,
To seek independence so we could be free,
To start a new life in the South and the North,
And live with the statutes that we have set forth.

Yet though we're so different and seldom agree,
The best thing in life is that we are both free,
To live with our conscience and do what we please,
And trust in our Nations, for they hold the keys.
